Besa measures impact by taking the hourly rate provided by Independent Sector (based on the state where the activity took place) and multiplies it by the hours volunteering tracked in our Impact Platform.
Independent Sector calculates the average value of a volunteer's time based on wage data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The rate provided by Independent Sector updates yearly for the national average as well as rates on a state-level basis for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
